Letter from PGH Director Gerardo D. Legaspi, MD

20 May 2020

Dear Chancellor Padilla:

I have shared with University of the Philippines President Atty. Danilo Concepcion and the
whole UP System how the Bayanihan spirit is alive, flourishing and being practiced in these
times of Covid-19 in the UP Manila Community.
It is not easy to commit to house 900 PGH healthcare workers directly involved in the care of
Covid patients. Just to let you know, i would like to commend the following deans of the
different Colleges:

1. College of Dentistry: Dean Danilo Magtanong

2. College of Arts and Sciences: Dean Leonardo Estacio

3. College of Nursing:  Dean Sheila Bonito

4. College of Pharmacy:  Dean Bienvenido Balotro Marilie Aguila

5. College of Allied Medical Professions: Dean Marilie Aguila

6. College of Public Health:  Dean Vicente Belisario Jr.

They have either been physically present or actively supporting in the preparation of their
various Colleges in making their respective Colleges a safe haven for PGH health workers.
They have also provided safety precautions in terms of separate passageways for their staff who
are reporting for work. We would also like to thank your Chancellors Management Team for
being so helpful.

Today, we are housing 365 PGH healthcare workers in the different colleges in UP Manila.

On behalf of the PGH community and most importantly the PGH patients cared for by these
healthcare workers, thank you very much.

When the story about how this Covid war was fought and won, each member of the UP Manila
community can proudly say we have all shared the burden. We have all done this for the University and the country.

God Bless us all.
Very truly yours,
